Jury statement NaturVision "Hallo Ludwigsburg" Audience Award

We didn't make the selection easy for ourselves, it was a neck-and-neck race right to the end. In the end, we decided on a film that connects - and will certainly not lose any of its topicality for a long time to come: It begins with a flood. Humanity has already been wiped out. What remains is a group of animals that could not be more different - and yet they learn to trust each other and survive together. With impressive attention to detail, their individual characters are brought to life in a loving, poetic and visually powerful way. Flow tells a deeply moving, universal story about community, diversity and cohesion - themes that are more urgent today than ever. In a world where social divisions are growing and natural disasters are becoming more frequent, this Latvian animated film sends a strong message of hope. With Flow, Gints Zilbalodis and Matiss Kaza give us a magical film that shows how strength grows out of diversity. It makes us realise that - despite all our differences - we can only overcome the challenges of our time together. A timeless film about friendship, solidarity and being human in its most original form.
